Hi there! I’m Sara, a huge cat lover passionate about animal welfare! Over recent years, I’ve had fortunate opportunities to foster kittens, care for small animals, and volunteer alongside vets, further fueling my enthusiasm for veterinary medicine. My interest in the field revolves around animal neonatal care, but I am curious to see how that shifts over the next few years as I grow! A field with so much potential and variety excites me, but for now, I’m driven to continue exploring the human-animal bond and discovering innovative methods of helping one another! Aside from my love for animals and science, I am equally passionate about social justice and community involvement. Hence, I’m eager to integrate my passion for animals with my artistic side in my position as an FVC Co-President, but also within my future career!

Hi there, my name’s Emily! Ever since I was a kid, I’ve had a deep love for all things animal-related, inspiring me to pursue my dream of becoming a veterinarian, specifically pursuing a career in emergency/critical care or radiology. Being in the company of animals has always brought me immense curiosity and joy, and this passion has only grown stronger as I’ve immersed myself in veterinary medicine. Whether observing surgeries, conducting lab work, or exploring the intricate anatomy of animals I didn’t even know existed, I’m dedicated to providing our beloved friends with the best care possible. Beyond the animal world, I have a strong passion for social impact and youth empowerment, and am always on the lookout for ways to give back to my community, starting right here with FVC. I’m thrilled to be part of this amazing team and can’t wait to embark on this paw-some journey with you all!

I have always had a love for animals and have wanted to be a veterinarian for as long as I can remember. There hasn't been a day in my life when I didn't have an animal by my side. For the past 5 years, I've been volunteering with an animal rescue organization and worked alongside vets. This experience has only solidified my passion and understanding of the veterinary profession. With that, my goal is to pursue a career in veterinary medicine, with an emphasis on surgery for small animals and wildlife species. I'm excited to be part of the FVC team and look forward to working with like-minded individuals!

Hi everyone! I am beyond excited to be a part of the 2024-25 FVC executive team. Since I can remember, becoming a veterinarian has been a goal of mine, however my high school co-op experience at a local small animal clinic solidified my passion and desire to pursue a career in veterinary medicine. Since then, I have worked in local small animal clinics, and volunteered with a local animal shelter, which has allowed me to gain valuable experience and reinforce my passion for helping animals. I understand the path to vet school can seem intimidating, so I am excited to be able to support fellow future vets on this journey!

Hello everyone! My name is Shraddha Madaria, and I am so grateful for the opportunity to be part of FVC this year. I've always loved animals, and after volunteering at several animal hospitals, I'm confident that I want to pursue a career in veterinary medicine. I especially love the idea of continuous education and mystery since every animal has a different story and requires a different approach making every day a unique experience. Currently, I am interested in exploring exotic species in the wild and conducting research on animal behaviors. I would love to chat with like-minded individuals and introduce them to the world of veterinary science as part of the FVC!

Hey everyone! Growing up with beautiful biodiversity around me at  young age, I developed a deep connection with animals and a
fascination with the natural world. This passion only grew through myexperiences in the veterinary field, whether that be working alongsidevets, assisting with surgeries, wildlife rehabilitation, lab work etc, I
truly felt like I was making a difference. I'm particularly interested in
wildlife and zoological medicine, and these opportunities have
deepened my understanding of how veterinarians greatly impact
animals and our communities, especially through one health concept.I aim to ensure every aspiring vet, regardless of background, feels  welcome, supported, and empowered to pursue their dreams. I’m
excited to work with the FVC executive team to create a more
inclusive and diverse space for all of us to grow together on our path to DVM!

My name is Hin Yee, and I’m thrilled to be part of the FVC executive team this year! From a young age, I have been fascinated by the beauty of animals, always driven by a burning curiosity about their behavior and physiology. I still remember the day I adopted my first rescue pet, Ben (a Campbell’s dwarf hamster). As I cared for him, questions began to spark in my mind that shaped my perspective: Is Ben happy and comfortable in his environment? Am I providing the best care possible? These thoughts didn’t stop with Ben; they soon evolved into a broader concern for the well-being of all animals. The bond I shared with Ben was the starting point of my commitment to animal welfare. In high school, I had the opportunity to volunteer with a small animal veterinarian, where I witnessed firsthand the critical role veterinarians play in advocating for animal health and well-being. That experience solidified my passion for veterinary medicine. Currently, I have developed a growing interest in poultry welfare and behaviour, especially as I learn more about welfare concerns associated with laying hens working in a poultry welfare lab. I’m excited for the events and opportunities ahead and look forward to helping build a strong FVC community that supports and empowers pre-vet students on their path to the DVM.

Growing up, the zoo was my favorite place to be. I’d spend hours watching the animals, completely mesmerized by their behavior and uniqueness. That early curiosity turned into a lifelong passion for animals. From working at a pet store to volunteering at veterinary clinics, I've had many experiences that have made me certain that I want to be a veterinarian. My heart especially lies with wildlife and exotic animals—monkeys, in particular, have always fascinated me!Beyond my love for animals, I’m a creative soul with a passion for social justice and equity. Ever since I was a little girl, I was obsessed with the idea of working with animals when I was older. My favourite thing to do was play ‘vet’ with my stuffed animals by covering them in band-aids until I decided they were healed. In university so far I’ve had opportunities to volunteer at animal shelters, veterinary clinics, and farms. I love gathering experience with as many animal species as possible - I'm still figuring out which ones I want to work with the most after school! For now, I'm so excited to be pursuing a veterinary pathway in university, because ultimately I have always been passionate about animals and I want to help other students with similar passions find their way into vet school along with me! I look forward to making meaningful connections with other future vets and using our common love of animals to propel us into making the world a better place together.

Throughout my life, I have been surrounded by animals, and currently have a dog and a crested gecko! I have had the opportunity to volunteer at my local animal shelter, work at a dog daycare, and work at a small animal veterinary clinic over the past few years. These experiences helped me to realize how much I love working with animals and their owners, as well as doing all that I can to keep them healthy and happy. I am open to trying all fields of veterinary medicine, but am most interested in exotics and zoo med, as well as small animal surgery. I look forward to helping other pre-vets along their journey to vet school and achieving our common goal: to make this world a better place for our furry friends!

My family didn't have any pets when I was younger, but you would regularly find me at my best friend's house hanging out with her and her old beagle. I love how animals can bring solace and joy to people, and although clinical experience has taught me that it’s not always that simple, my determination to make a difference for the individual remains. My interests lie in exotic companion animals, but I am also fascinated by the technology and equipment used in veterinary practice. I hope to contribute to advancements in the field as I gain more knowledge and experience, ultimately improving accessibility of care. I’m so excited to be part of the FVC team, and I look forward to supporting everyone here on your veterinary journeys!
