Symposium 2018 - "Vet'olutionary Medicine: New Veterinary Technology and Techniques"

Hey Future Vets!

One of our biggest events of the year is just around the corner - our annual symposium! We are proud to partner with OVC Pet Trust and OzTREKK to bring you this amazing event. The symposium will be held on Saturday, January 20 from 9:30 am to 3 pm in the OVC Lifetime Learning Centre. This year's theme is "Vet'olutionary Medicine: New Veterinary Technology and Techniques" and will explore recent developments and future opportunities in modern-day veterinary tech. In between the morning and afternoon presentations, there will be a hot lunch provided, and current OVC students will sit at each table to chat with you and answer any questions. Ticket sales will be held Wednesday, January 10 and Thursday, January 11 from 10 am to 4 pm in the Mackinnon lobby (doors closest to the library), and will be $10 for FVC members and $15 for non-members. 

Just to get your interest piqued, here is the itinerary of speakers and their area of interest/role:

Opening: Dr. Gordon Kirby (Associate Dean of Research and Innovation at OVC)
Morning: Choose between Dr. Matthew Vickaryous (Tail regeneration in the leopard gecko) and Dr. Dorothee Bienzle (Diagnosis and classification of lymphoma)
Afternoon: Choose between Dr. Luis Arroyo Castro (pulmonary vasculature in racehorses) and Dr. Alexander Valverde (Anesthesia/Analgesia and epidural techniques)
Keynote: Dr. Jeffrey Wichtel (Dean of the OVC)
