Hey Future Vets!
My name is Jodie and I am a second-year Animal Biology student. This is also my second year as an executive member of the Future Vets Club, and I am excited to say that I have taken over the role of Editor of the Omnis Animalis for this upcoming school year! I hope you have all heard about (and read) the awesome articles that were published in the Omnis Animalis last year and in the years previous. This year, however, things will be a little different! We’ve decided to revamp the Omnis Animalis into a more casual and light-hearted – yet still educational and helpful – blog! Our vision for this blog is to feature some inspiring individuals ranging from veterinarians, faculty, student veterinarians, undergraduate students, etc. to hopefully bring you fun and informative information that covers a wide range of topics, as well as keep you in the loop of any exciting events that happen over the year! Since this blog is brand new for the Future Vets Club, I need your help! If you have any questions regarding a specific topic burning a hole in your mind, I’d love to hear about it! Please reach out to us via email ([email protected]) or Facebook messenger (keep an eye out for future polls on Facebook as well) and let us know what YOU want to read about! On a similar note, if you feel you can share some wisdom with your fellow Future Vets, please let me know! You could write about any topic relating to your school journey, plans for the future, veterinary and animal experiences, or one of your ideas, and I’d love to be able to feature some of you on our brand-new Omnis Animalis Blog! Blog posts will be uploaded onto our website monthly. We are all very eager to share this with you and hope you enjoy reading it throughout the school year! ******************* In other news, Orientation Week is just around the corner (believe it or not), so here is a quick run-down of the 2 awesome events that we are bringing to you all this year: Future Vet’s Social! Calling Future Vet’s of all years to join us Monday, September 2nd, at the Bullring patio for a casual mixer with FREE pizza and (non-alcoholic) drinks from 4:00-6: 00 pm. This is a great opportunity for new and returning students to mingle and share their mutual interests, all the while eating delicious pizza – did I mention it’s free? – what could be better! Our Executive Team members will be there as well, equipped with all the knowledge to answer any questions you may have about the upcoming school year, future events, how to become a Future Vet’s member or just life in general… Don’t miss out! Future Vet’s Trivia Night! Worried your mind is still in “summer vacation mode”? I’d recommend you come out to our Trivia Night to give your brain a reboot! Find us in the Science Complex Atrium Tuesday, September 3rd, from 5:00-7: 00 pm for a fun evening, filled with challenging, animal-oriented trivia questions and lots of fellow Future Vet’s to meet! Again, our Executive Team will be there to guide you through, answer any of your questions and help you sign up to become a member of our club. There will also be PRIZES for the winning team so be sure to bring your A-game! We hope you will all be able to make it out to our O-Week events and look forward to speaking with every one of you! That’s all for now from me. Good luck with your first week of classes and I hope to see you around! Talk soon, Jodie P.S. Don’t fret Freshman, you’ll make it out of First-Year alive… I promise.
