January 17th, 2023

Dear undergraduate students with an interest in animal-based research,

Our lab in the Ontario Veterinary College has 3 paid student positions available for work
during the Winter 2023 semester. Duties of the position will mainly involve assisting with
collecting blood samples and conducting live behaviour observations of newborn calves at
the University of Guelph‘s Ontario Beef Research Centre.

The anticipated start date is January 27th and the work is expected to end in id to late April.
Work will be in 4-hour shifts from 8 am to 12 pm. As calves are being born every day of the
week, we require help on weekdays, and some weekends. The workload will be split between
the students hired.

These are paid positions (minimum of $16/h) and we are looking for 3 dedicated students.
Experience with calves is preferred but not required, and training will be provided regardless.
To apply, please submit your CV / Resume along with a letter detailing your interest in the
position, to either MSc student Mariah Crevier (mcrevier@uoguelph.ca), or Dr. Derek Haley
(dhaley@uoguelph.ca). Please also indicate in your application, whether you would require
transportation in order to be able to get to the research station.

Sincerely,
Dr. Derek Haley
